How to Repair a Deteriorating Concrete Surface?

Resurfacing is a great way to address superficial cracking, discoloring, chipping, or spalling in any flat concrete surface. Resurfacing adds an additional overlay layer on top of the existing surface to cover up the old and ugly concrete with a new and smooth finish. Concrete resurfacing restores the durability and appearance of worn concrete. Surfaces with uneven cracks may need additional leveling before resurfacing can be done. Resurfacing materials may be customized to include various colors and textures. A popular finish for resurfacing is semi-gloss for interior concrete. We offer a variety of finishes and textures from which you are bound to find your favorite.

Concrete Repair and Replacement Options

Two common repair services offered here at Lubbock TX Concrete Contractor are crack repair and concrete sidewalk or concrete slab leveling. Cracks in the concrete can be caulked with long-lasting polymer caulk. This seals the crack and prevents water or other outside contents from entering. Sealing the crack prevents it from spreading and causing further deterioration. Uneven sidewalk or slab leveling can be achieved by pumping leveling material under the lower side, to raise it up. Repairing cracks and leveling concrete are only two of the many services we offer. Repairing concrete improves surface appearance and is a excellent home improvement job.

Does your driveway, patio, deck, or walkway have cracks everywhere? Are your existing concrete slabs falling apart? Sometimes, concrete surfaces cannot be saved and it is more economical just to replace than to repair or resurface. We also offer concrete replacement services if this is the case for you. Is Sealing Concrete Necessary?

Sealing concrete is a necessary step to protect concrete floors, concrete driveways, and other surfaces from staining, wear, and cracking. Especially in exterior concrete, concrete sealers ensure that outside components cannot affect the concrete through its pores and cause early deterioration. Without applying concrete sealer, the concrete pores are exposed and absorb moisture that may cause it to crack, flake, and discolor. Concrete sealer also protects against UV damage. There are four types of concrete sealers, penetrating sealer, polyurethane sealer, acrylic sealer, and epoxy sealer. Penetrating sealers are the only type with penetrating capability. All other types of sealers are topical. We recommend that concrete sealer be applied by professionals to ensure that the right sealer is used and that the seal is applied properly. If you are thinking about a new concrete project, you should consider getting it sealed immediately after curing is complete.

How Frequently Should You Seal Concrete Surfaces?

Generally, you should apply concrete sealer every 2-5 years, depending on average volume of foot or vehicle traffic. We recommend sealing any new concrete surface to maintain its beauty and appearance for as long as possible. The frequency at which concrete should be resealed depends on how heavy the surface is used. A sealed concrete driveway with light traffic may only need to be resealed every 4 years while one with heavy traffic may need to be replaced every 2 years. Additionally, foot traffic may impact a surface less than vehicles, so concrete surfaces with solely foot traffic may also only need resealing every 4 years. On the other hand, a driveway or parking lot with frequent 3+ axle traffic may need resealing every 2 years. Not sealing your concrete surface frequently enough can cause the seal and ultimately the concrete to fail.

Whether you need driveway crack repair, resurfacing, resealing, or beyond, we do it all. Call us today at 806-758-7879 to get your free estimate!
